Race Drake of Staunton gave a presentation on Mardi Gras history. Nancy Rarus announced the April Birthday folks - Paul Daniels, Pam Finnegan, Robert McNab, Carolyn Willis, and Betty Yates.


For lunch, the Happy Hands group had:

  1. *Gumbo prepared by Donna Graff with chopped celery from Sharon Svenningsen and Chopped onions & green pepper from Jill Moebus

  2. *Steamed Rice prepared by Sang McLauchlin

  3. *Salad provided by Donna Graff with dressings from Bill Center, George Herberger, and Carolyn Willis

  4. *French Bread provided by Elaine Shaffer with butter from Carolyn Willis

  5. *King cakes provided by Pat Beech, Bill Center, Kenny Hynes, Jill Moebus, Nancy Rarus, and Elaine Shaffer


During lunch, we showed a slideshow of pictures taken by Donna Graff during her and Gary Viall’s trip to New Orleans in 2012. They displayed their souvenirs on a table. We were encouraged to wear Mardi Gras colors - Purple, Gold, or Green. We had a Best Decorative Mardi Gras mask contest. After lunch, Keith Cagle presented “Is Sign Language 1,000 Years Old?”
